The relatively small sampling of students who initially responded to the latest Decision Day call to action makes one thing clear: NHI students have prepared well for their higher education journeys, and have a number of incredible destinations in their futures.

As you might expect given NHI’s large Texas contingent, there’s already a Longhorn, an Aggie, a Horned Frog, and a Rattler in the mix, with NHIers accepting invitations to attend three of the biggest and best-known universities in the state (the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, and TCU) as well as one of its best-known private schools (St. Mary’s in San Antonio).

Some other large and well-known public universities, including Louisiana State University, UCLA, and the University of Michigan, have accepted NHI students who will add to their massive and diverse student bodies in the fall.

But there are also some small liberal arts colleges in the mix as well. One NHIer will go to Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa., which has an enrollment of just over 1,000. Another will attend Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., which boasts slightly more than 2,500 students — and is, of course, the longtime home of the Midwest Great Debate, where students from Chicago to Marshalltown, Iowa, to Omaha begin their NHI training.

And so far, we’ve learned of at least four students who are headed to Ivy League colleges — two to Yale, one to Columbia, and one to Penn. Other top-tier universities like Northwestern, Duke, Johns Hopkins University, Pomona College, and Washington University in St. Louis also have accepted NHI students ready to embark on their next steps.

We’re interested in knowing what your plans are if you’re a senior who’s part of the greater NHI family. First, please take a couple of minutes to let us know your plans. We’re gathering info (including contact info) and may reach out to you, as we want to feature a select group of NHI students about to make their mark in college.

Also, when Monday, May 5 arrives, please post a photo revealing your choice of school (or, if not college, whatever path you’re going down next) to the social media platform(s) of your choice, using the #NHIDecisionDay hashtag. We’re eager to see where you ad NHI’s many other future leaders will inspire and lead others as you all pursue your degrees!
